Due to irreconcilable differences with a couple of other officers in my guild, I left my horde-side guild tonight. It’s always joyful to be pin-pointed as the problem person when all you’re doing is upholding the guild policies/procedures/rules to the best of your ability and treating everyone the same. I didn’t play favorites, I didn’t make everything a popularity contest and yet it’s now all my fault when I disagree with other officers. I was accused of “picking on” guild members due to “personal feelings”. Even the guild leader agreed that this was bullshit, but seemed to think that this only way for the guild to “not implode”, was for me to step down. I did one better and left the guild altogether. They can have their cliques and their officers playing favorites and allowing their friends to do whatever they like regardless of guild rules.
I know that I take a more conservative viewpoint and tend to be more strict in upholding the guild rules. But why did you appoint officers if not to uphold your rules? Do you want your officers to give concessions to their friends, or do you want them to treat all the guildies the same way? I would have thought the latter would have been better, but I guess that there are many who would disagree with me. Just because I like or dislike someone doesn’t make a difference to me if they are breaking the guild rules. It may seem to them as I might be “picking on” them, since their other officer friends don’t bother to say anything to them when they break the rules. This will be my only rant on this subject and I’m done with messing with these people. I’ll miss quite a few of my fellow guildies and want them to know that I’ll miss hanging out with them. As to the rest, you know who you are.. What comes around goes around.
